REVIEWS FOR OUR WONDERFUL EDINBURGH HOSTEL
Lauren DGlasgow, UKSweeeeeet! Lovely folks, lovely place, all the amenities you could ask for and a safe place to sleep. All for cheap in a great Edinburgh location. You also get access to a nice kitchen, free tea and coffee, a chilled out living room with the option to watch millions of films on the projector and get online for free! I'm sold :D
Nabil EBirmingham, UKExcellent Budget Hostel. This is the third time I stay in 'The Light House Hoste', and as in the previous two occasions, the high standards maintained in every aspect . I particularly like its homely and quiet atmospher, the friendliness and help of its Staff, its high standard of cleanliness and its fully kitted kitchen and bathroom facilities. Its proximity to Princes Street & City Centre attractions are an added advantage (A Bonus). The Light House Hostel offers a really comfortable and an enjoyable experience in all respects . I highly recommend it !
Lucy MAustraliaLovely atmosphere. I was traveling with my brother and we loved this place!!! The staff were all sooo friendly!! Helped us to our rooms, shoed us where everything was located and they were always willing to offer advice if asked. They were well informed on local bus routes, local attractions, cafes etc. They were great!!! The rooms were clean and nicely spaced!! They were also cleaned daily!!! The showers were also good, lots space in the bathroom too. The general atmosphere of the hostel was great too! Lots of opportunities to meet people. The kitchen was a great meeting place at breakfast. Again just a lovely little hostel. The location was also good, right on a bus line and only a 15 minute walk to the royal mile!!!
mad4freedomFlorence, ItalyA budget a lovely hostel! I spent 3 nights in this lovely hostel, located not far from Grassmarket about 10 minutes walk. The Staff is very friendly and is on duty from 7am to midnight, they are always very helpful with assistance and information. They were very helpful also before arrival with speedy reply to my emails, giving to me all information that I required. The area around the hostel is ok, there is a supermarket with good deals and it is open until 10pm. The hostel is clean and there is a bathroom at each floor. Sheets and towels are provided directly with a deposit of 2£. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave and washing-disher, plus an electric kettler with coffee and tea always at hand. We met nice people during our breakfast included in the room rate, which is a simple breakfast with toasts, jams, butter and cereals but ok for us, it is served from 7 to 10 am. All bathrooms have shower, with very hot water, perfect for a nice shower after a day of sightseeing. The wifi connection, free of charge, is perfect. We had a lovely room on the last floor, beds are very comfortable and we all had very good sleeps. Just in case, if you are a light sleeper, you can have earplugs at no charge and if you like reading at bed you can ask the staff for a 'night light bed'. All in all the Light hostel is a neat, cozy, friendly and well located place to stay in Edinburgh at a very reasonable rate....with an amazing staff always willing to help you :) Highly recommended!
Alvarenga93Chatham, UKexcelente. Very good hostel, nice price. It is a big house, and they give you this liberty, for example open kitchen and also a nice waiting room with a television, some songs and even a guitar for playing. Good localization, 10-15 by foot from the castle and really close to the bus station that can take you to any where in the city.
RuairimckDublin, IrelandProbably the cleanest hostel I have EVER stayed in. Very helpful, chilled out staff. A bit of a quiet in terms of socialising with other guests but it could have just been the time we were there. Highly recommended if you're lookng for reasonably-priced, clean, quiet accomodation
Lizzie TBrighton, UKLovely hostel - very zen! Very calm and welcoming hostel. A good place to go if you want a good night's sleep rather than a party hostel. Friendly staff. Would definitely come back here. Really good kitchen equipment, can cook a nice meal.
MynameisulyssesManchester, UKBest hostel I've ever stayed in. I've read the one star reviews and the hostel has clearly changed hands since then, the beds are big and comfy, and at 6"3 it's rare I fit in hostel beds, free BBQ and free and an open fire in the evening. A wonderful common room such comfy sofas nearly asleep on them, all the staff were lovely epically the manager, free breakfast and fully furnished kitchen ( so free tea coffee ect) I've stayed in many hostels and hotels and this is the best by far from my many travels, cannot fault it in the slightist. Also or the bit below there was no fitness centre or pool but I gave 5 stars because quite frankly I'm sure the manger could have you lovely ones if you just asked
Mitch SPerth, AustraliaThe perfect small hostel, cosy great to meet people. Excellent brand new kitchen, tasty freed brekky with cereal & toast -plus coffee & tea all day. The owner & staff are extremely friendly & helpful. Great location, if catching the bus from train station you will need correct change.
ArminvstheglobeHooLeeFucOne of the best hostels we've been. Stayed for 4 nights, the staff is superfriendly and helps out with everything. The living room has a computer with free internet acces, the wifi is good, there is a large beamer (superb quality) where you can check out movies you like (great database), the kitchen is also new as are the bathrooms. the guests come from all over the world but that is the story of hostels ofcourse. the walking distances are good since the hostel is situated on the edge of the old town (middle of centre). hence, a very unique hostel that has a lot to offer besides a bed. greetings from the netherlands
siphenBest hostel in Edinburgh, possibly the UK. These guys have the most welcoming hostel we've ever seen. The place is warm and inviting, exceedingly well kept and maintained, and Gav and the staff are the most lovely and accommodating people. Our room was fresh and clean, beds were great and the communal kitchen was so well equipped. The lounge was awesome with computer internet and movies to watch and the great atmosphere with everyone else was refreshing after some other hostels. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
jfosorio94Barcelona, Spain12/10. A truly 12/10 rating review. Friendly staff, good walking distance from both centre and nightlife. Bed was sooooo comfortable and the place was very neat and trendy. No bad feedback really. The staff were very knowleadgable of the local area and provided excellent advice.
brett0973Windsor, CanadaRecently went to Edinburgh and stayed at this hostel. We were greeted by Gavin who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He sat down with us and showed us the map and gave us many suggestions. The nice thing about this hostel is it's about a fifteen minute walk to the city Centre. Because of this the nights were nice and quiet. However, if you plan early days make sure to set aside time for your walk to the center. Adrianna kept the place very clean and was quite friendly. I'd definitely stay here again if I returned.
Kevin TChicago, IllinoisI can't recommend Light House enough! I originally planned on staying for 3 nights... and ended up staying 9. You walk in, get a pair of slippers, check in, and are then given a tour of the facilities along with suggestions on fun attractions, bars, and activities in Edinburgh by one of the awesome staff (seriously, you'll see when you get here). The hostel is a converted house, so it's got a wonderful homey feel, but the staff clean every day so it's completely lacking the decrepit feel that other such hostels have. There's free breakfast, free wifi, free towels, laundry capabilities, a computer that can do SD card uploads, a projector and a movie library, and - best of all - comfy bed, all for the range of £12-14 per night. The hostel's a mere 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile and city center, too, so all of the city's attractions are easily accessible. If you're thinking about coming to Edinburgh, DEFINITELY book a few nights here. I promise you won't regret it!
Ute GGermanyWithout a doubt the best hostel I ever stayed in - certainly the cleanest. The staff is absolutely lovely and helpful. There are two common areas, the lounge/sitting room with a projector for movies (huge selection available!), book swap and free pc and the kitchen which has everything you need and has a very homey feel to it. All in all: Fabulous!
Freya PAustraliaAmazing hostel! One of the best in have stayed in! Lovely, helpful staff, welcoming and beautiful atmosphere, super clean, fantastic kitchen. I souls struggle to find something negative to say about it. Such a warm, homely feel and loved the free slipper use!
Bryan KCanadaSoo if you stay any where else you're a fool. The best hostel I ever stayed in. Staff are wicked beds are comfy bathrooms are clean breakfast is delicious and you get slippers and tea all day. Go to Edinburgh and stay here you will not regret it :)
Tarah BUSAStaying at the Light House was a pleasure. Gavin and the rest of the staff are very nice people, and you can borrow towels, adapters, and whatever for just a small deposit you get back. You get your own locker for free in your room. The place was clean, and the beds were comfy. Best of all, it felt like you were a guest in someone's home. It's also walking distance to Waverley Station and Prince's street, where you can grab a nice bus tour.
